Peacock

The typical peacock tail is the proudest bird in the avian family, the feathers giving rise to poems, art, and celebrated prizing of these glorious birds। The most exotic of all birds, native peacocks greet the dawn with their distinctive shrill call. The brilliant blue green of the peacock is famous in paintings, culture, and many national heritages worldwide. Peacock feathers have fantastic and intriguing color and shape variations.
The tropical peacock will have more woodland aspects to its everyday behavior, like hunting and foraging. Domesticated peacocks are more for “show”. They may overfeed or lack defensive skills due to penning. Considerable investment in research, supervision, construction, and planning goes into a domesticated peacock arrangement.

A peafowl will have a high towering crest, and the male will spread the famous bird’s eye fan of tail feathers. Their wingspan allows flight but peacocks are mainly ground foraging large birds. Peacocks mate and nest and conduct normal woodland type daily activities.

The native bird of many exotic countries, the peacock is also the national bird of India। The male is the wide tailed breed, the female is known as the peahen. Indian peacocks are by their national heritage preserves, but the Green Peacock is growing endangered due to the acquisition value, deforestation and clearing in native terrestrial grounds.
Peacocks can grow to 50 years of age. They have grown in popularity and have become exotic specialty pets for estate owners and wildlife lovers. Peacocks are far from weak but their more robust qualities go beyond their appearance. However, roosting and nest setting peahens cannot be left without serious attention to defense from predators who count on their not tendency to never abandon their nest. Domesticating owners of would-be peacock tribes should consider if these are the right pets for them.

One problem with domesticated peacocks is that neighbors may not like the early morning screeching habits of the peacock। The high call is more like a startling screech that wakes up quiet suburban blocks. City ordinance and neighborhood unwritten rules may end your peacock ownership before you are ready. Devoicing your peacock birds is not a pleasant nor happy process.
Home ownership of a peacock requires more than a domesticated caged bird and a few sacks of pellets Defense from predators and thieves during all hours must be provided for good animal husbandry. Adequate roaming room, wood, and props for everyday life, and observation opportunities from a protected area should be minimal requirements for the home peafowl pen.

Peachicks can occur in nests of up to seven eggs and require adequate perch and roosting room. Nesting peahens are vulnerable to attack and predation. Enclosures should be protected by owners for domesticated peacocks against possums, raccoons, owls, foxes, rats, dogs, and other animals. Fenced yards with caged ceilings should protect domesticated peacock pets.

Peacocks like to be as comfortable as any other animal. Overly active other pets and being chased by dogs are going to spook the peacock. Heated roosting and other accessories for barns and organized peacock raising is available.

Domesticated peacocks should have variable diets which serve the change in weather. Their diet should reflect treats like lettuce raisons and other snacks but have enough protein from corn (and even dog food) for healthy strength. Their eggs take about a month to hatch and their tails (in males) molt every August. A male adult peacock takes three years to develop the full birdseye tail span.

Extreme heat and cold weather climates may not suit the peafowl breed you desire. Ponds, fountains, grass sprinklers, and insulation for winter against frigid cold should be considered before building the peacock home plan. Nest boxes for breeding peahens may be a good accessory if hens are reluctant to build an nest or climate retards nest hardiness.

It should be stressed that peacocks are exotic birds, not personality driven domesticated pets. Weather, noise, and other animals or vehicle traffic can stress them out. Control and retraining of other pets, and separated feeding and roaming for them is often a consideration. Peacocks can be hard to handle without strength or training. Research into the care and feeding of the peacock should be done well before the shopping begins. Veterinary care and worming must be provided.

Their original habitat behaviors of peacocks were fostered by pockets of woodland foraging and nesting opportunities fostered by gaps in natural prey and climate. They do not make casual pets. These species will not flourish left on their own to fend for themselves. Acclimatizing with some kinds of other household pets may never happen.

As always, clipping feathers in perch pets is an independent decision. Clipping peacock feathers would seem to detract from the main characteristic of the bird. If nipping flight from penned areas for the bird’s own safety is necessary, check all pen boundaries and gates and fences first. The enclosure of the formally limited new aviary or pen may calm the bird down but require more supervision.

The natural flight defense of the peacock will be dramatically lessened after clipping। Owners should be careful they are not clipping their peacock’s lifespan with the feathers।
